Cartoon Network Korea Gears Up for Launch

HONG KONG/SEOUL, November 7: Cartoon Network Korea, a joint
venture of Turner Broadcasting System and JoongAng Ilbo (JAI), is set to launch
November 11 as a 24-hour kids’ service featuring a mix of local and
international content.

“To make the network truly relevant to our viewers, Cartoon
Network is now 100 percent available in Korean and offers content that is
engineered and tailored to the viewing habits of Korean kids,” said Ian
Diamond, the SVP and general manager of Turner Entertainment Networks Asia. “In
addition to content produced in Korea and international hits, viewers will also
be treated to exclusive global and national cartoon premieres from Cartoon
Network Studios and the world’s largest and best cartoon libraries including
Warner Bros., MGM and Hanna-Barbera.”

Highlights include Powerpuff Girls Z, which will be seen for the first time outside of
Japan, as well as Ben 10 and My
Gym Partner’s a Monkey
. The schedule
includes the preschool block Tiny TV, featuring Ethelbert the Tiger, Postman Pat and the live-action program Poong Poong Ee. During afternoon prime time, Non Stop Cartoon will deliver two hours of Cartoon Network favorites
like The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter’s
Laboratory
and Codename: Kids
Next Door
. Friday afternoons will include
Pang Pang Friday
, a one-hour block
featuring brand new episodes and launches of cartoon favorites. On weekends,
viewers will be able to access the animated features block Cartoon
Cinema
.

Key Korean titles on the schedule include live-action shows
like Magic Warrior Mir & Gaon and
animation such as Olympus Guardian,
Bumper King Zapper and Nalong. The schedule also includes Japanese animation
titles such as Princess Yucie, Makibaoh and Kimba the White Lion.
