Scripps Networks Expands Food Network to Middle East

KNOXVILLE, August 8: Scripps Networks has extended the reach
of its Food Network brand to the Middle East by teaming with the Dubai-based
Takhayal Entertainment’s Fatafeat TV, the first 24-7, free-to-air food channel
in the region.

Launched earlier this year, Fatafeat TV airs programming
from the Food Network in 21 Arabic-speaking countries through the Middle East,
including Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. The channel features
Food Network programs such as Rachael Ray’s 30 Minute Meals; Everyday
Italian
, starring Giada De Laurentiis; Barefoot
Contessa
, hosted by cookbook author and
caterer Ina Garten; and Ace of Cakes
with baker Duff Goldman.

In addition, Takhayal Entertainment has also announced plans
to launch the first lifestyle network in the Middle East this fall. The new
channel will feature popular programming licensed from the Scripps Networks
library. A minimum of 750 hours of programming from Scripps Networks will be
airing in the Middle East featuring content from Food Network, along with Home
& Garden Television (HGTV), DIY Do It Yourself Network and Fine Living.

"The instant popularity of Fatafeat TV displays the
huge demand of the Middle Eastern audience for the inspirational and
informational series that have made our lifestyle brands household names,” said
Kristen Jordan, the senior VP of international development for Scripps
Networks. "Scripps is honored to help serve as a catalyst for the
emergence of lifestyle TV around the world, with compelling programming that
transcends the boundaries of geography and culture to appeal to a universal
audience.”
