SBS Netherlands Picks Up Southern Star Series

SYDNEY,
November 27: SBS Netherlands has acquired the first two seasons of the crime
drama City Homicide from
Southern Star International and has renewed the eighth season of McLeod’s
Daughters
for their
channel NET 5.

Produced by
Seven Network Australia, the 36×1-hour City Homicide centers on the homicide squad of a large
metropolitan city, following the young committed cops as they focus on justice
for the deceased. The series garnered Seven Network’s highest audience and
commercial share for its time slot, becoming the number-one Australian drama of
2007.

Rozan Hamaker,
SBS’s manager of acquisitions, commented: “I loved [City Homicide] from the first moment. It is a very
gripping series with good characters and storylines. I could easily see it
being very successful here in the Netherlands.”

She continued:
McLeod’s Daughters
has proven to be a success for NET 5 in the Netherlands; it has found a very
loyal audience. The show itself is very accessible and therefore is a perfect
match with the profile of NET 5.”
