Rockies Grand Prize Winners Announced at Banff

BANFF: The Banff World Media Festival has presented its Rockies Grand Prizes, along with honoring this year’s Special Achievement Award winners.

The Grand Prize for best in documentary went to Sergio, produced for HBO. The best in kids and animation winner was Sid the Science Kid ("Ignatz’s Inertia"). The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards took the Rockie for best in entertainment, while Sherlock: A Study in Pink won as the best in drama. 19-2 took the top honors in the Francophone category. The Grand Jury Prize was awarded to Sergio.

The Rockies Gala, hosted by Caroline Rhea, also honored Special Achievement Award winners Edward Asner, Eugene Levy, Howie Mandel and Linda Ellerbee.

“The Rockies Gala is a major high point of both the awards program and the Festival as a whole,” said Georges Leclere, the director of awards and competitions of the Banff World Media Festival. “It is a great pleasure to bring together these legendary stars and fantastic programs for special recognition on one stage.”
