CANNES: A total of 40 companies are participating at the Malaysian Pavilion at MIPTV, a record attendance for the delegation.

The pavilion sees the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) joining forces with the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (SKMM), in association with the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). The delegation was facilitated by Global Creative and Media Agency (GCMA). Founded by ex-MDeC executive Adam Ham, GCMA has been tapped to rebrand the Malaysian Pavilion and assist the Malaysian government in accelerating growth of the country’s media sector.

Highlighted offerings of the delegation include KRU Studios’ The Malay Chronicles: Bloodlines; Seefood, an animated feature co-produced by Silver Ant Studios and Al Jazeera Children’s Channel; Islamic Scholars 3; Palm Oil: In the Spotlight and a second season of Saladin: The Animated Series, among many others.

Mahyidin Mustakim, director general of FINAS, commented,  “The Malaysian film and multimedia content industry is getting more exciting as we are now witnessing more creation of world-class intellectual properties (IPs), accomplishment of international co-productions deals and acquirement of contents and distribution agreements worldwide."
