Rakuten Launches Live Video Streaming Service

The Japanese e-commerce and internet company Rakuten has revealed a new live video streaming service known as Rakuten LIVE.

The live video streaming service allows artists, celebrities and general users to live stream videos and communicate with viewers in real time as “live streamers.” Viewers can interact with streamers in real time by sending comments and “gifts” to show their support. The service also offers a live commerce function, allowing viewers to access sites to purchase products featured in streaming videos and allowing shoppers to make purchases while watching. The live commerce function of Rakuten LIVE will also be linked to other services offered by the Rakuten Group.
