ProSiebenSat.1 Takes Full Control of maxdome

MUNICH: The ProSiebenSat.1 Group has purchased 1&1 Internet’s 50-percent stake in maxdome, giving it full ownership of the VOD portal.

maxdome was founded in July 2006 as a joint venture between the two companies, each of which holding a 50-percent share. The portal offers more than 35,000 titles, including movies, series, comedy, sports, music and cartoons. The 100-percent takeover by ProSiebenSat.1 is subject to approval by the Federal Cartel Office in Germany. 1&1 Internet will remain as the sales and service partner.

Christoph Bellmer, the head of new TV with the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, commented: "Together with 1&1, we have built maxdome up into the market leader with the largest video-on-demand range in Germany. We will continually develop the range. I am very pleased that 1&1 will remain our very close partner."
