Production Under Way on New Disney Original Series

BURBANK, September 30: Sonny
with a Chance, an original comedy
about a talented Midwestern girl who relocates to L.A. for a role on a
sketch-comedy series, is set to premiere in early 2009 on Disney Channel in the
U.S.

Demi Lovato (Camp Rock, As the Bell Rings) stars as Allison “Sonny” Munroe, who is cast in
the sketch-comedy series So Random,
a popular TV show for kids and teens. Sonny with a Chance follows Sonny, her family and new friends in L.A.
and at the studio. The series, formerly known as Welcome to Mollywood, features a show within a show, with fully
produced comedy sketches.

Sonny with a Chance, which will roll out on the 27 Disney Channels
around the world following its U.S. launch, is executive-produced by Brian
Robbins (Varsity Blues, One
Tree Hill, All That) and his producing partner Sharla Sumpter Bridgett
(Wild Hogs, Coach Carter) for Varsity Pictures. Steve Marmel (Yin Yang
Yo, Fairly Odd Parents) also executive-produces along with Michael
Feldman (Disney Channel's That's So Raven and Cory in the House).
