Premiere Sets September Launch for Sky Package

MUNICH, March 14: On September 1, Premiere will launch its
new Premiere Sky satellite TV service, which will be led by former NBC
Universal Global Networks Germany chief Wolfram Winter as managing director.

Premiere Sky will bundle existing and new pay-TV channels,
with a focus on “diversity” rather than exclusivity, and is intended to appeal
to current customers as well as new ones. Via satellite, Premiere Sky will be
available to 16.7 million TV households in Germany and 1.8 million TV households
in Austria.

The subsidiary will be led by Wolfram Winter, who was the
managing director of NBC Universal Global Networks Germany until the end of
last year.

Dr. Georg Kofler, the CEO of Premiere, commented: “The time
is right for a product like Premiere Sky. A large number of current and planned
digital TV channels are now looking for a strong marketing
partner—especially via satellite. Premiere can offer these channels
nationwide pay-TV marketing with by far the biggest impact. Via Premiere, the
channels on Premiere Sky gain direct access to 1.7 million satellite subscriber
households. These customers only need to make one phone call and Premiere Sky
will be activated within a few seconds. Subscribers don’t need a new receiver
or a new smartcard. Premiere Sky will increase the diversity of the digital
pay-TV market and add new momentum to the competition between the satellite,
cable and DSL transmission modes.”
