Power Sets Up New Division to be Helmed by Sue Green

LONDON: Power is expanding its business with the launch of a new division, Powerlocal, which will be led by Sue Green as managing director.

Green will be responsible for the adaptation of existing concepts, as well as sourcing and creating new project for local production worldwide. The primary focus of the division will be serialized drama for access and prime time. Power holds the distribution rights for the long-running daily soaps Guiding Light and As the World Turns, and both will be a key part of Powerlocal’s venture. Green will also focus on entertainment, factual and reality programming. She will further take charge of the format development, acquisitions and sales.

Green began her career in television with Reg Grundy Productions. In 2000, she became the managing director of FremantleMedia Productions for Nordic Central and Eastern Europe. She was a key driver in the regional rollout of such formats as Pop Idol, Britain’s Got Talent, Farmer Wants a Wife and X Factor.

Justin Bodle, the CEO of Power, said, “Sue has been on our radar for a number of years and we have always been looking for the right moment to work with her. She is a unique and rare blend: a creative deal-maker, a strategic salesperson—and a fabulous producer to boot. We wouldn’t want to launch such an important division under anyone less talented.”

Green commented, “I have known Power for some time, having collaborated with them previously on a number of high-profile and successful projects. Internationally, they are greatly respected and have a first-class reputation as accomplished and experienced producers of top-quality programming. I am delighted to be joining the Power team.”
