Power Rangers Set for India

LOS ANGELES: Dream Theatre has been named the exclusive licensing agent in India for Saban Brands’ hit Power Rangers Samurai franchise, and MarVista Entertainment, the exclusive international television distributor for Power Rangers, has licensed the broadcast rights to Nickelodeon India.

Power Rangers Samurai has more than 100 licensees worldwide. Dream Theatre will launch products across apparel, stationery, bags and luggage and back-to-school that will be available in leading chain stores and kids’ stores across India.

“The addition of Dream Theatre and Nickelodeon India to our powerful team of licensing and broadcast partners across the globe further strengthens the position of Power Rangers Samurai in the boy’s category,” said Kirk Bloomgarden, the senior VP of international licensing at Saban Brands. “India is a significant market with tremendous growth potential, and we look forward to working with our new partners to expand the brand’s presence in this region.”

MarVista Entertainment, the exclusive international television distributor for the brand, has licensed the broadcast rights for all 700 episodes of Classic Power Rangers and Power Rangers Samurai to Nickelodeon in India. Nickelodeon India joins global broadcasters, including Mediaset’s Italia 1 and Boing in Italy, SIC of Portugal, Channel 9 in Australia, TV4 in New Zealand and South Africa’s E-TV, Nickelodeon (multiple territories), YTV in Canada, Canal J and Gulli in France, Televisa in Mexico; Brazil’s Groupo Bandeirantes, Peru’s America TV, Ecuador’s TCTV, Panama’s Corp Medcom Panama, Paraguay’s Telefuturo, Bolivia’s Unitel, Nicaragua’s Intrasas TV and Uruguay’s Monte Carlo TV.
