ARLINGTON: PBS is said to be developing a new digital channel to air its programs in the U.K.

According to the New York Times, the U.K. PBS service would be distributed via cable and satellite, airing current and library PBS programs. Specific shows and channel details have not yet been announced, as PBS officials are saying that plans are not final.

Richard Kingsbury, the former head of Good Food and Yesterday, started in July as the general manager of what is being called PBS UK.

W. David Lyons, the chairman and chief executive of the Orca Exploration Group, is backing the PBS UK project financially.
