Pappas Splits with Azteca

VISALIA, April 3: Pappas Telecasting Companies, the largest
privately-held commercial television broadcast group in the U.S., is ending its
affiliation agreement with Azteca America, noting that the Spanish-language
content had not delivered significant enough ratings gains to warrant
continuing the alliance.

Pappas Telecasting carries Azteca America, the U.S.
Hispanic-targeted offering from Mexico’s TV Azteca, on KAZH-TV (Houston),
KTNC-TV (San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose and Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto),
KAZR-CA (Reno), KAZO-LP (Omaha), and KAZJ-LP/KAZS-LP (Sioux City, Iowa). As of
June 30, Azteca America programming will cease on these stations. Pappas has
not yet revealed what its plans are for those outlets, although the sale of the
Houston station is said to be on the cards.

Not included in the termination is KAZA-TV in Los Angeles,
Azteca America's flagship station, which is operated under a Local Marketing
Agreement (LMA) that expires June 30, 2008. That LMA can be terminated on six
months' notice by Pappas. KAZA-TV’s future is also uncertain, with Pappas said
to be exploring a sale of that outlet too.

In announcing the end of the Azteca America affiliation,
Harry J. Pappas, the chairman and CEO of Pappas Telecasting, noted: "Our
company has affiliated various stations with the Azteca America Network during
the course of the last six years. During that period, the Azteca America
Network's programming has not developed and ratings have not grown as we had
expected. We are choosing amongst various other options for programming on
these stations, to begin July 1, 2007."
