Pact Gears Up for MIPTV

LONDON: More than 30 British independent production companies will be present at MIPTV under the UK Indies Pavilion, organized by Pact and supported by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

Those set to participate under the UK Indies banner in Lerins Hall at the Palais include Chameleon Television, Icon Films, Mercury Media International, Tern Television and Twofour Studios.

"The U.K. is a global leader when it comes to producing hit shows for television, being the largest exporter of formats and the second biggest exporter in TV programs worldwide," said John McVay, the chief executive of Pact. "The UK Indies Pavilion provides a one-stop-shop for buyers and distributors to access some of the U.K.’s most innovative new content. Last year, the stand held more than 800 meetings and millions of pounds worth of deals were done and we look forward to another successful event this year."

UKTI’s CEO, Sir Andrew Cahn, added: "Television trade is a valuable contributor to the U.K.’s economy. Our home-grown companies continue to create that winning television formula. They capture the imagination of British audiences and are then snapped up by oveseas viewers…I look forward to hearing that all businesses based in the U.K. have a successful and productive show."
