OWN to Feature New Transgender Docs

LOS ANGELES: OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network is to air two new documentary specials on November 27 on the topic of transgender people: Being Chaz, which chronicles Chaz Bono’s transformation, and I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition, following a family and their transgendered daughter.

Being Chaz explores the relationship between Bono and his fiancé following his surgery and is the follow-up special to the 2011 Emmy Award-nominated OWN Documentary Club film Becoming Chaz. Being Chaz is executive produced by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato. Elise Duran serves as director and co-executive producer. World of Wonder, the production shingle of Bailey and Barbato, also produced.

The documentary special I am Jazz: A Family in Transition features 11-year-old Jazz and her family as they deal with issues such as hormone blocking therapy, fertility, discrimination and identity. The special is directed by Jen Stocks and executive produced by Bill Hayes, Kirk Streb, Wayne Mahon and Mark Gottwald of Figure 8 Films.
