Numericable to Feature Content from i-concerts

GENEVA, January 29: The
music VOD service i-concerts has finalized a deal to launch its HDTV channel on
French cable platform Numericable this spring.

The 24-hour music channel,
produced exclusively in high definition, will make its debut to European cable
subscribers for the first time, stocked with content from i-concerts’ VOD
library. i-concerts HD is currently available in France via Free and Neuf telecom IPTV networks, while the i-concerts
VOD music service continues to expand across numerous IPTV platforms such as
Free, Swisscom and Rosmedia, among others.

Olivier Gerolami, the COO of
Numericable, said: “By
adding i-concerts to the existing HD channels on our network, we are moving
forward into the next generation TV. Our subscribers now have one of the most
comprehensive selections of HD programs in Europe, with the best quality
available. i-concerts will be broadcast on Numericable with a rate of up to 13
Mbit/s, whereas ASDL technology usually provides HD channels at a lower level
of bandwidth with an average of 5 Mbit/s.”

Natalia Tsarkova, the
president of i-concerts, added: “i-concert’s mission is to deliver to consumers
a television channel of the new generation, based on the best available
technologies. We are happy to see this combination of a full HD concert channel
with the world’s largest on-demand library of live music programs finally available
to cable subscribers in France.”
