Novela, Buyers Panels Scheduled for NATPE

LAS VEGAS, January 10: Among the highlights of the NATPE
conference slate are two sessions to be moderated by Anna Carugati, the group
editorial director of World Screen: one on telenovelas around the world, and
the other, produced with the International Academy of Television Arts &
Sciences, featuring international buyers.

Telenovelas Around the World takes place on Wednesday,
January 17, at 1 p.m. During the session, distributors and producers will weigh
in on how telenovelas are being rolled out in Asia, Europe and the U.S. The
panelists include Celina Amadeo, the president of Dori Media Distribution
Argentina and EVP of Dori Media Group; Joanna Szybist, the research and client
services manager at Mediametrie/Eurodata; Gonzalo Cilley, the head of formats
and international production at Telefe International; and Patrick Jucaud, the
general manager of DISCOP.

The World Round-Up of Buyers also takes place on Wednesday,
at 4 p.m. Produced with the International Academy of Television Arts &
Sciences, the panel will see executives from several channels discussing their
acquisition strategies. Participants include David Chu, the SVP of programming
and production at ImaginAsian TV in the U.S.; Patrice Courtaban, the COO of the
worldwide French channel TV5MONDE; Dheeraj Kapuria, the president of
international operations at the U.S. arm of India’s Zee TV; and Michael Murphy,
the founder and director of programs for Channel 6 in Ireland.
