OSLO: The Documentary Channel in the U.S. has bagged The Future of Water, filmed in 25 countries around the world to focus on the management of our fresh-water supply, from Nordic World.

The 3×50-minute doc was originally produced by Norwegian indie Panopticon for TV2 Norway. The series has sold into more than 15 countries worldwide. It looks at how the management of the world’s fresh water will determine political and economic development globally.

Kate Person, the senior VP of programming and acquisitions at Documentary Channel, said, "We’re very pleased to be able to feature this fascinating and important program in April, in honor of the environment and to help raise awareness."

Espen Huseby, the CEO of Nordic World, commented: "We have been working on the U.S. market for some time and we are extremely happy for this breakthrough representing our first U.S. sale, especially with NATPE in our sights. This deal stands testament to the fact that US broadcasters rightly see the value in top-quality international documentaries."
