Nickelodeon Block to Launch on Nigeria’s STV

LAGOS/NIGERIA: Nigeria’s STV has struck a new content deal with MTV Networks Africa for Nickelodeon programming to form a daily block on the channel.

Starting July 16, Nickelodeon programming will be featured for an hour every Monday to Friday in an after-school block from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturdays, Nickelodeon programming will air in the early morning slot, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Shows to be featured include Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go! and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Alex Okosi, the senior VP and managing director of MTV Networks Africa, said, “We are thrilled to partner with STV to bring Nickelodeon’s unique kids’ programs to terrestrial viewers in Nigeria. Now Nigerian kids have a place where they can go to interact with fun, safe and entertaining Nickelodeon characters such as SpongeBob and Dora the Explorer every day.”

Guy Murray-Bruce, the president of Silverbird Entertainment, commented, “STV has carved a niche for itself with quality family and children entertainment programs. In addition, we are committed to providing programs that are wholesome and educational as well.
