NGCI Taps Parthenon for New HD Series

WASHINGTON, D.C.: National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has commissioned Parthenon Entertainment Group to produce Mystery Files, a 13×30-minute series that attempts to discover the truth behind iconic mysteries.

The series will feature high-end dramatic reconstructions of famous mysteries that have confounded experts for years. Each program will look into a different mystery and test its validity, investigating everything from the tales of King Arthur and Robin Hood to Cleopatra and Anastasia. Mystery Files will incorporate expert interviews and experiments, using the latest techniques and technology. The series will be filmed in cinematic HD.

Danny Tipping, the director of production at Parthenon Entertainment Group, commented: “This is a major commission for us and one that marks our first steps into producing docudramas for the international market. We also have a great team working on this series, which will be produced under the leadership of former head of documentaries at Darlow Smithson Productions, Richard Sattin. It’s a testament to our relationship with NGCI that we can produce this series, which challenges viewers on an international level.”

Sydney Suissa, the executive VP of content at NGCI, added: “Parthenon Entertainment has produced high-quality programs that have engaged and entertained National Geographic Channel’s audience for years. Mystery Files continues this trend, capturing the viewer’s imagination, as it unlocks the truth behind some of the most intriguing and bewildering mysteries of all time.”
