New VP of Original Movies for Syfy

NEW YORK: Karen O’Hara has been promoted to the VP of original movies for Syfy, to bolster the popular Saturday strand home to films such Dinoshark, Lake Placid 3, Carny and Meteor Storm.

O’Hara will oversee the development and production of more than 20 Syfy Saturday Night Original Movies per year. Upcoming films include Red, Mega Python vs Gatoroid and Sharktopus. O’Hara previously served as the director of original movies, a role she’s held since April 2006.

Thomas Vitale, the executive VP of programming and original movies for Syfy, said: “As an invaluable member of our film team, Karen’s creative insights and acumen have helped propel our Saturday Original Movies into the mainstream of American pop culture.”
