New VP for NHK

TOKYO, January 30: Shigeo
Fukuchi, NHK’s president who assumed his new post last Friday, named Yoshinori
Imai as the new VP of the Japanese pubcaster.

Imai joined NHK as a TV
and radio journalist in 1968, and has moved through the ranks, retiring from
the company in December 2007 before coming back to assume the post of executive
VP in January of this year.

Imai commented: “I had
worked as a journalist at the public broadcaster for 40 years. Drawing on that
experience, I will dedicate all my strength on the reforms of NHK under the
leadership of newly appointed Fukuchi.”
