New VP at Discovery’s Nordic Channels

LONDON: Discovery Networks EMEA has upped Michael Grubinger to VP of channels for the Nordic region, responsible for Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.

Grubinger takes up the new post, based in Copenhagen, on August 10, when he moves from his current role as channel director at Discovery Networks in Germany. He joined Discovery Networks in 2006 as channel director for free-to-air, and has been managing the direction of the German channels since January 2008. He also had overall responsibility for marketing, PR and on-air promotion for these channels.

Arthur Bastings, the executive VP and general manager fir Discovery Networks EMEA, said: "Michael’s significant industry experience, coupled with strong leadership skills means that he has made a much valued contribution to our business, especially in the development and success of our German free-to-air channel DMAX. We are fortunate to have him as a member of our team and pleased to share news of his well-deserved promotion."

Commenting on his new role, Grubinger said: “It has been an incredible three years for me at Discovery and I’m looking forward to embracing these new challenges and moving with my family to Denmark. This is an exciting opportunity for us all.”
