New UKTV History Series Focused On Hitler’s Confidantes

LONDON, October 23: Hitler’s
Bodyguard
, a 13×46-minute series
from Nugus Martin Productions that looks at the men who made up Adolf Hitler’s
inner circle of bodyguards, has been presold to UKTV History to air later this
year.

The documentary series
features episodes such as “How Hitler’s Bodyguard Worked,” looking at the
street fighters, thugs and political cohorts who formed Hitler’s inner circle;
“Kill Hitler Before the War Starts,” exploring the period before WWII started
when German officers plotted to remove the ruler from power; and “Attempts to
Kill Hitler at the Wolf’s Lair,” about an opportunity for the SAS and others to
attempt to assassinate Hitler. Narrated by Robert Powell, Hitler’s Bodyguard will be executive produced by Nugus Martin
Productions’ chief executive, Philip Nugus.

Nugus commented: “Hitler’s
Bodyguard
tells the
fascinating story of jealousy, betrayal and murder and what it was like to
protect the biggest villain in history from bombs, snipers, plots, maniacs,
poison gas and allied assassination attempts. This is the detailed story of
Hitler’s survival from a very new angle. ”

Richard Kingsbury, UKTV
History’s channel head, added, “The success of Churchill's Bodyguard gives us the confidence that Hitler's Bodyguard will be a big hit for UKTV History. The subject
matter is well known but the unique research into the stories of Hitler's closest
confidantes will make this a must watch for our viewers."
