New Sales for Carl2

TORONTO, May 1: Following
on a record-breaking MIPTV, Portfolio Entertainment has concluded a series of
deals for the animated tween comedy Carl2.

France’s Canal + picked up
the pay-TV rights for all four seasons of Carl2, totaling 65 episodes. Meanwhile, ¡Sopresa!, Juniper
Content Corporation's Hispanic children’s network, acquired the first two
seasons of the series to air in the U.S., while SW Television/Channel Four
Finland will air the program for the first time in Scandinavia.

The series centers on a
teenage boy who accidentally orders a clone, and must now clean up the trail of
chaos left behind. Carl2 currently
airs on HBO in Latin America, TELETOON in Canada, Nickelodeon in Germany, Jetix
in the Netherlands, ABC and ABC2 in Australia, VRT in Belgium, RTP in Portugal,
KTV in South Africa, Canal + Cyfrowy in Poland and Noga in Israel.

“This was a banner market
for us as we’ve seen a strong demand for comedy-themed programming,” said Joy
Rosen, the president and co-founder of Portfolio Entertainment. “As reflected
in the sales we’re announcing, we continue to broaden our international relationships
with broadcasters and further establish our position as one of Canada’s leading
providers of quality entertainment.”

“As the global market
clamors for more comedy, these benchmark sales demonstrate the sustaining
popularity for tween hits like Carl2,” said Jon Rutherford, the director of sales and acquisitions.
“Despite the industry’s global economic concerns, Portfolio has experienced an
overall increase in sales, resulting in one of our most successful markets
ever.”
