New Rose d’Or Management Presents 2007 Highlights

LAS VEGAS, January 17: At
an event at NATPE yesterday, the new management of the Rose d’Or Festival
unveiled the highlights of this year’s event, taking place May 5 to 9 in
Lucerne.

Freddy Burger Management
bought the rights to the festival last summer and named Urban Frye as the
event’s new managing director. “The Rose d’Or strives to continue being one of
the most important festivals for entertainment programs,” said Frye. “The
festival’s goal this year is to reward originality, quality and creativity in
entertainment programming, while encouraging excellence in television and new
media. Throughout its history, the Rose d’Or has gathered the best of each
year’s new entertainment and made it easy for international broadcasters,
buyers, producers and the press to see it all. Over 40 countries are regularly
represented at the festival.”

The categories for this
year’s competition are: Show, Reality, Comedy, Sitcom, Soap, Performing Arts
and Arts Documentary. In addition, to celebrate the 400th
anniversary of opera, an award will be presented for best opera recording, best
opera film or best documentary about an opera topic, in conjunction with IMZ
(Vienna International Media Center).

Alongside the competition,
there will be conferences and panels on new formats and technologies in
television production and distribution. Another highlight for the 47th
edition of the festival will be the film kiosk, with 120 screening booths.
