New NGCI Special Focused on FARC Hostage Rescue

WASHINGTON, D.C., October
21: National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has commissioned Paraiso
Pictures to produce Inside: FARC Hostage Rescue, a new one-hour special that looks at the
controversial plan used by the Colombian government to free 15 rebel-held
hostages.

The special reveals the
tactics behind Operación Jaque, the cornerstone of a series of Colombian
intelligence activities and military operations aimed at suppressing the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Inside: FARC Hostage Rescue features testimonies from military leaders and
exclusive interviews with intelligence agents who developed the operation,
helicopter hostage rescuers, hostages and captured FARC members.

Also addressed in the
special are the allegations of illegal use of the International Red Cross
emblem and media organization logos. Inside: FARC Hostage Rescue provides never-before-seen footage of the
operation, as well as footage filmed by the guerrillas themselves. The special
will begin airing internationally later this month, and will air in the U.S.
towards the end of the year.

Inside: FARC Hostage
Rescue
is produced for National
Geographic Channels International by PODER Magazine and Paraiso Pictures. Juan Rendon, Daniel
Eilemberg and Isaac Lee are producers for Paraiso Pictures, and the director is
Alvaro García.

“Operación Jaque was a
daring maneuver that incorporated a clever, but highly controversial ruse to
free the 15 politically-significant hostages,” said Sydney Suissa, the
executive VP of content for NGCI. “Inside: FARC Hostage Rescue recounts the dramatic course of events through
exclusive testimonies to explain one of the riskiest hostage rescues in
history.”

“Exploring the
intelligence structure that planned and carried out this operation—and
uncovering the story behind it—has been an incredible experience,” added
Daniel Eilemberg, the editor for PODER Magazine. “The audacity with which this rescue mission was
executed never ceases to amaze me.”
