New Formats from Globo

SÃO PAULO: TV Globo has a mix of documentaries, telenovelas, comedies and mini-series to offer buyers at NATPE, as well as a host of game shows.

The Spelling Game combines education and entertainment, while Xtreme Connection puts everyday people and celebrities through a variety of challenges. Other game shows include The Video Game, a daily quiz show; Laugh-O-Meter, in which unknown comedians perform in front of a live audience; and Wreckovery, featuring the stories of renovations on wrecked cars as well as their owners.

Mini-series from Globo include Maysa, the story of a woman who gave herself to life and to love. Telenovela titles are Two Faces, about a businessman who once had a different face and a different name; The Favorite, featuring two friends bonded by their love of music; Forbidden Desire, which blends drama, romance and comedy to show that love is still the greatest miracle; and The Prophet, about a young man from the countryside who has the gift of clairvoyance. The telenovela Pure Beauty is a romantic comedy that shows that life is full of surprises, and there’s always room for one more.

In the way of comedies, The Cleaning Lady returns with a second season of 26 half-hour episodes. Meanwhile, Normal People is a modern comedy that looks behind closed doors at the abnormal aspects hidden in the lives of two seeming normal people.

The colors, sounds and riches of Brazil are explored in the 13×52-minute Globo Doc. A companion piece, Globo Doc: Carnival 2009, presents a behind-the-scenes look at the Brazilian Carnival.

"The principal advantage of this event is the possibility to meet big partners and clients from Latin America, markets that traditionally believe in the potential of our products and include these in their yearly programming strategies", affirmed Raphael Correa Netto, director of International Sales at Globo TV International.
