NBC Dominates at TCA Awards

LOS ANGELES, July 23: On Saturday night, NBC garnered the
most trophies—four—at the 23rd Television
Critics Association (TCA) Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills,
including Outstanding Program of the Year
for the drama Heroes.

The awards ceremony was introduced by John Oliver from Comedy Central’s The Daily
Show with Jon Stewart
. Mary
Tyler Moore received TCA’s 2007 award for Career Achievement.

Another NBC
freshman series, Friday Night Lights, won Outstanding New Program of the Year. For the second
year in a row, NBC also picked up an Outstanding Achievement in Comedy award
for The Office.
The Individual Achievement in Comedy award went to Alec Baldwin for his role as
network executive Jack Donaghy in NBC’s 30 Rock. In the Individual Achievement in Drama category, Michael C. Hall, who
plays the title role in Showtime’s Dexter, won out.

HBO won two
awards, with The Sopranos receiving the Heritage Award, as well as Outstanding Achievement in
Drama. The Heritage Award recognizes a long-standing program that has had a
lasting cultural or social impact. The Discovery Channel also came away with
two awards for Planet Earth, which won Outstanding Achievement in News & Information and
Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Mini-Series & Specials. ABC Family’s Kyle
XY
took home a
trophy for Outstanding Achievement in Children’s Programming.

Among those
on hand at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to accept the awards were Alec Baldwin,
Brian Baumgartner, Lorraine Bracco, Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler, David Chase,
Jack Coleman, Edie Falco, Michael C. Hall, Mindy Kaling, Masi Oka, Adrian
Pasdar, Zachary Quinto and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
