New Commissioning Editor at U.K.’s Bravo

LONDON: Richard Watsham is to take on the role of commissioning editor at the male-skewing Bravo channel in the U.K., where he will report to Mark Sammon, the head of commissioning for Virgin Media Television.

Watsham has held production and development roles at Endemol, Granada, North One, Two Four Productions and Twenty Twenty. He also worked at Outline Productuions, where he directed The House of Tiny Tearaways, Couples on the Couch and How Weird Are You? At Elaine Bedell’s Watchmaker, Watsham worked on the series The Clive James Show and Clive James on TV.

Sammon said of the new appointment: “Richard’s huge passion for Bravo and original content shines through and I am thrilled to have him join the commissioning team as we continue our commitment to U.K. production.”

Watsham commented, "This is a genuinely exciting time to be at Bravo. With our new direction and healthy budgets I want people to be surprised by the quality and compelling nature of our commissions. I am looking now for original, noisy ideas that will bring broader audiences to the channel. Many of those will feature popular, recognisable talent. I look forward to working with producers so that together we can define a unique new identity for Bravo.”
