ABU DHABI: Malcolm Wall, who formerly headed up the content segment at Virgin Media, has been tapped as CEO of Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC), effective September 1.

Wall fills a position that has been vacant since Ed Borgerding’s exit earlier this year. As CEO, he will lead a company that manages more than 20 brands across free and pay television, radio, publishing, digital media, games, feature films, music, digital signage, outside broadcast/production and printing. Until early 2009, Wall was chief executive for content at British cable platform Virgin Media. He previously served as COO of United Business Media.

"Malcolm is a heavy hitter we are delighted to have attracted to ADM," said Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouie, the chairman of Abu Dhabi Media. "He brings a wealth of senior operational experience in advertising sales, broadcasting and content. He has worked globally within the print, research and news distribution sectors. We are confident that he will take Abu Dhabi Media to a new level, maximizing our potential commercially and in public service excellence."

ADMC’s television and film assets include the TV channel Abu Dhabi Al Oula and feature film production outfit Imagenation Abu Dhabi, which, since February, has been led by former CME chief Michael Garin. ADMC has a partnership with Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment on VEVO and with National Geographic on National Geographic Abu Dhabi.
