Network Ten Introduces New Australian HD Channel

SYDNEY, November 30:
Australia’s Network Ten has unveiled the lineup for its new high-definition
digital channel, TEN-HD, set to roll out December 16.

TEN-HD will feature award-winning
documentaries, movies, science fiction and drama series. Key titles in the
science-fiction genre include Smallville, Battlestar Galactica,
Torchwood
and The 4400. Hit drama series due to air on the new network are The
Shield
and Veronica Mars. Rounding out the slate, in time-shifted viewing,
will be TEN News at Five and
the daytime soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful. Additionally, TEN-HD will also broadcast live
sports offerings, including NASCAR, NFL, the World Golf Championships and TEN’s
AFL home and away season matches.

TEN's chief programming
officer, David Mott, said: "After nearly a year in planning, and thanks to
the hard work of staff across the network, TEN-HD is ready to launch. We are
incredibly proud to introduce a new era of choice for free-TV viewers with the
highest possible picture and sound quality. And even better, consumers won't
have to keep paying for the privilege of enjoying TEN-HD. Saturday, [December
16] marks the beginning of a journey, and we will progressively increase
TEN-HD's unique content in the months ahead."
