Netflix, NBC to Offer DVD Previews of New Shows

BURBANK, January 4:
Netflix and NBC and partnering again to offer the online movie rental company’s
subscribers a specially produced DVD that will include the first full episode
of the highly anticipated new NBC drama The Black Donnellys from Academy Award-winners Paul Haggis and Bobby
Moresco.

The DVD will also feature
recaps of the first 11 episodes of the Golden Globe-nominated series Heroes, which returns with new episodes on January 22,
and a preview of Jeff Goldblum’s
new series Raines. The Black
Donnellys and Raines join the lineup in the spring.

The NBC DVD will be
available exclusively to Netflix subscribers until January 15, when the content
will also be available for viewing at NBC.com. The special DVD will be
available to Netflix subscribers though the end of March.

The partners intend to
pursue a variety of platforms to promote this DVD, including tagged network
spots and a website presence. In addition, the promotion will be featured on
the Netflix site and in print ads inside the company's trademark red mailers.
Netflix will also promote the special offer to relevant subscribers based on
previous rentals and ratings of comparable content.

Last year, NBC worked with
Netflix to offer subscribers an advance look at the premieres of Studio 60
on the Sunset Strip and Kidnapped
six weeks prior to their September
broadcast premieres.
