NBC Shakes Up Midseason Lineup

UNIVERSAL CITY: NBC has unveiled its new midseason schedule, shuffling the comedies Whitney and Up All Night and benching Community, among others.

The Voice returns on Mondays, with a debut following Super Bowl XLVI. The show will have a regular 8 p.m. time slot. The highly anticipated musical drama Smash takes The Voice‘s lead in on Monday nights at 10 p.m.

The new reality competition Fashion Star, hosted and executive produced by Elle Macpherson, will air Tuesdays. The Biggest Loser opens a new season on Tuesday, January 3, at 8 p.m., with Parenthood at 10 p.m. continuing through its season finale on February 28.

On Wednesdays, the freshman comedy Whitney gets a new day and time, taking an 8 p.m. slot starting January 11. the show will be followed by the debut of the new comedy Are You There, Chelsea? at 8:30 p.m. on January 11. Rock Center with Brian Williams joins the Wednesday lineup on February 8. Law & Order: SVU holds down its 10 p.m. slot.

The new drama The Firm kicks off January 12 at 10 p.m., to air Thursdays. The new comedy Up All Night is also set for Thursdays nights, alongside returning hits 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation and The Office, which all remain in the same time periods.

Who Do You Think You Are? returns to Fridays on February 3. Chuck will have its series finale on January 27. Grimm and Dateline NBC are set for Fridays at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively.

Sundays see the return of The Celebrity Apprentice. The night also includes Dateline NBC, as well as Harry’s Law, which moves to the 8 p.m. time slot on March 4.

Missing from the schedule are Community, Prime Suspect and a trio of previously announced new series.
