LONDON: The factual series Seconds from Disaster has been re-commissioned by National Geographic Channel in the U.K. for six one-hour episodes that investigate natural disasters, set to premiere on September 5.

The order comes after the success of its previous seasons and a four-year hiatus of the series. It is produced by Darlow Smithson Productions. Seconds from Disaster uses CGI, reconstructions, eye-witness interviews and investigative journalism to delve into some of the most terrifying disasters.

Seconds From Disaster is a unique format that is extremely adaptable to telling strong factual stories,” said Simon Bohrsmann, the general manager of National Geographic Channel in the U.K. “It brings viewers often complex investigations in a way that is compelling and accessible.”

Nick Metcalfe, the executive producer of Darlow Smithson Productions, commented: “We’re pleased to see the revival of such a strong series and welcome the renewed opportunity to deconstruct second-by-second some of the world’s most infamous disasters. We’ve built on the original audience-winning format, blending compelling storytelling and powerful eyewitness testimony to bring viewers greater understanding and a more immersive experience overall.”
