National Geographic Explores Gang Life in New Special

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 9: A new special for National
Geographic Channel chronicling four months in the lives of gang members in
South Central, Los Angeles, is slated to air this month.

L.A. Gang Wars will
air at 9 p.m. on July 20, exploring the lives of young gang members through
interviews and homemade videos. During the four months of filming, members
revealed intimate details of the dangers of gang life that include cycles of
murder and retaliation. The show also brings viewers inside a high school where
warring gang members exist peacefully in a safe zone.

L.A. Gang Wars is
produced by Hoggard Films for the National Geographic Channel. For Hoggard
Films, Steven Hoggard served as director and writer and Daphna Rubin produced
the show. For the National Geographic Channel, the executive producer is Howard
Swartz, the senior VP of special programming is Michael Cascio and the
executive VP content is Steve Burns.
