MTVNI’s Suharjono Expands Asian Remit

SINGAPORE/TOKYO/SEOUL/BEIJING: Indra Suharjono is to lead the growth, strategic direction and management of MTV Networks Japan and MTV Networks Korea, adding to her existing responsibilities of overseeing MTV Networks Southeast Asia and MTV Networks Greater China.

In the newly created post of executive VP and managing director for MTV Networks North and Southeast Asia, Suharjono will continue to be based in Singapore and report to Bob Bakish, the president of MTVNI. Suharjono joined the company in 2005 as the VP of Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products.

Suharjono will work closely with Sammy Yoo, the current managing director of MTV Networks Japan who has decided to leave the company, to implement the transition to new local leadership.

“Indra’s extensive knowledge and expertise of the pan-Asian media industry has been invaluable to our growth and development in Asia,” said Bakish. “Her strong leadership skills, as well as her ability to forge innovative partnerships, build our brand strength and attract talent to the company are remarkable assets to add to our operations in Japan and Korea.”

Bakish continued, “Asia remains a priority for MTV Networks International and by adding Japan and Korea under Indra’s guidance, I’m confident that we’ll be able to take advantage of even more opportunities across the continent.”

“With markets developing and maturing across the region, it’s important to approach our business with a single, cohesive vision,” commented Suharjono. “While our brand strength has been the tether connecting our Asian businesses, this refined approach will allow us to maximise our creative and operational strength, and streamline the business in new and more profitable ways. I see this promotion as an exciting challenge and opportunity to lead that charge in Asia.”
