MTV Tr3s Ramps Up Offerings

NEW YORK, January 8: Viacom’s Hispanic music network MTV
Tr3s has added three new original series to its lineup, and will also roll out
a second season of the hit reality series Quiero Mis Quinces, which will be accompanied by a new online community
site targeted at Latina teens.

Quiero Mis Quinces kicked
off its second season on the channel yesterday and will continue to air on
Mondays at 4 p.m. The weekly show documents the elaborate quinceañera
parties that are traditional celebrations
when Hispanic girls turn 15. Aside from the linear offering, MTV Tr3s is
launching a new community site that will serve as a social network for girls 14
to 16. Members can create their own profiles and select party
preferences—uploading photos or videos of the cakes, venues and outfits
they want for their big event—and can also check out who else is planning
a quince in their area and enter
forums to share party-planning tips.

The channel is also giving viewers the power to control what
they want to see and hear on MTV Tr3s with the development of customized video
blocks on the new half-hour show Music My Güey (Music My Way), which
premieres today at 3:30 p.m. Viewers must first log onto playlist.mtvtr3s.com,
upload their personal photo and populate a playlist of ten song titles, and
upon review and approval, the channel then develops a video block based on
selections and features the fan’s picture on-air throughout the half-hour show.

Viewers can test their knowledge of their favorite artists
and videos with the new interactive show Tr3s or False, which will air weekdays starting January 14 at 6:30
p.m. The series will display artist, video and trivia questions, and gives
viewers 30 seconds to answer the questions correctly via mobile phones or SMS
technology. Each time a viewer answers correctly, they will automatically be
entered into a sweepstakes, where winners will be picked at random to receive
prizes.

MTV Tr3s is taking on issues that matter in its new series Tr3s
Docs
, showcasing the best news and
documentaries with emphasis on experiences, characters and issues that are
central to young Latinos. Presented by MTV Tr3s VJs Carlos Santos and Karli
Henriquez, the series will take on everything from handling the pressures of
adult responsibilities and obesity to the ups and downs of graduating high
school. True Life: Supporting My Family will debut on January 19 at 5 p.m., followed by True Life:
I’m a High School Senior
in the same slot
on January 26 and Return To Fat Camp on February 2.

“The lives of young Latinos are exciting, trend-setting and
complex, and MTV Tr3s is thrilled to begin the new year with expanded
programming options that celebrate and reflect our audience,” said Lily
Neumeyer, the VP of programming and production at MTV Tr3s. “Through research
and an on-going dialogue, our audience has told us they are seeking programming
that highlights what Latinos have in common with each other, the ways Latinos
are different from non-Latinos and the nuances and differences between Latino
countries of origin. MTV Tr3s has it all.”
