MTV Latin America & Sony Prep Original Telenovela

BOGOTA: Production has begun on Niñas Mal, co-produced by MTV Latin America and Sony Pictures Television. 

The title is the first original telenovela produced by the network in Colombia. It stars a full Latin American cast, including Carmen Aub (Mexico), Isabel Burr (Mexico) and Jéssica San Juan (Colombia). The show will premiere on MTV Latin America during the third quarter of 2010. It will also air on Tr3s in the U.S. and on VH1 in Brazil. 

The telenovela follows three high-society girls who challenge the lifestyle set by their parents. The girls are sent to the only remaining charm school in the city, yet this only increases their rebelliousness. 

“MTV has always been on the cutting-edge of content, taking on and reinventing various genres, including animation, reality shows and fiction," said Fernando Gaston, the senior VP of content, creative and music at MTV Networks Latin America. "Now it’s our turn to take on our first original telenovela produced for the first time in the region. Niñas Mal will certainly break the traditional telenovela aesthetic and provide a fresh and innovative look at this genre that is sure to captivate our young adult audience across Latin America.”
