MTV International Content Travels Globally

LONDON: A number of MTV International’s original series have secured sales outside their home territories, including the Japanese mini Shibuhara Girls scoring a slot in Korea.

The live-action mini-series Shibuhara Girls, which is about four young Japanese women trying to achieve fame, is headed to Korea’s Channel J. Also from Japan, the animated series Usavich, about two rabbits on a jail break, is airing on 2×2 in Russia via a relicense deal and on BESTV in China, which went for seasons one through three. The Korean pop series The Show, which features celebrity artists performing in different music genres, is set to air in Thailand on STG.

House of Anubis, a joint production between Belgium’s Studio 100 and Nickelodeon Holland, has been remade in countries such as Germany. The localized French version is now set for VRAK TV in Canada.

Norway’s TV2 is on board for a second season of the British series Geordie Shore, inspired by Jersey Shore. The series is also airing on MTV channels in Australia, Poland and Spain, as well as on TV5 in Finland.
