LOS ANGELES: An additional 50 one-hour episodes of the tween telenovela Grachi have been commissioned by Nickelodeon Latin America.

The broadcast was initially planned for 75 episodes, but the show’s success has prompted an additional order. The novela earned 3.6 ratings points with kids 4 to 11 in Mexico with its debut, as well as 2.6 points with those 12 to 17 and 4.5 points with the 7- to 14-year-olds, according to IBOPE Media. “It’s amazing! Grachi’s ratings surpassed all of our other novela premieres,” commented Tatiana Rodriguez, the senior VP of programming and creative strategy for Nickelodeon Latin America. “We were certain that this magical series would connect with our viewers in the region, so we are delighted to share more episodes with them.”

Grachi has also been sold by Comarex into more than 18 countries worldwide.

Grachi has received an amazing response from our viewers, so we are thrilled to bring them more episodes, said JC Acosta, the senior VP, CFO and executive in charge of production. “Nickelodeon Latin America always strives to bring its audience characters they can relate to so it’s wonderful to see how quickly kids and broadcasters worldwide have become enchanted with the magic of Grachi.”
