More Dancing with the Stars for Watch

LONDON: In a deal with BBC Worldwide, UKTV’s family entertainment channel Watch has secured the British multichannel broadcast rights to season nine of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, launching this fall with a lineup that includes Kelly Osbourne.

The American adaptation of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing premieres exclusively in the U.K. on Watch on September 28. Announcing the acquisition, Lesley Pemberton, manager of content acquisitions at UKTV, said: "Over the last four seasons, it’s proved hugely popular and we suspect Kelly Osbourne’s involvement will really ensure this latest one attracts younger viewers while also offering Strictly fans the opportunity to enjoy the U.S. take on their favourite dancing format every Friday night.”

Paul Moreton, channel head at Watch, added: "Dancing with the Stars is perfect for Watch because it’s TV made for sharing, whether that’s arguing over the judges’ scores, who’s the best dancer or simply watching together on the sofa. Whether you’re a fan of ballroom dancing, reality TV or just great entertainment, Dancing with the Stars is must-watch TV."
