CANNES: Reed MIDEM is reporting attendance of 11,000 executives at MIPTV, which wraps in Cannes today, with Laurine Garaude, director of the television division, calling this week's event a "buoyant" market.

Digital in particular is a highlight, with some 1,000 of the 4,000 buyers in attendance acquiring content for digital platforms. In light of this trend, MIPTV launched the Digital Fronts this market, allowing digital media studios to showcase their original content.

“For over 50 years, MIPTV has been the destination to produce, finance, distribute and acquire content from around the world,” said Garaude. “Now, with MIP Digital Fronts, it naturally becomes the international digital content marketplace and the new global destination to produce, finance, distribute and buy original online video.”

Over 100 countries are represented in the MIPTV delegates list, with new pavilions from South Africa, Israel and India, as well as a larger representation from Mexico ahead of the country being honored at MIPCOM this October.
