MIPCOM: World Screen Trendsetter Jed Mercurio Q&A with Anna Carugati

This year’s recipient of the World Screen Trendsetter Award, screenwriter and showrunner Jed Mercurio, will take the stage in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais for a one-on-one conversation with World Screen’s Anna Carugati on Wednesday, October 16.

Mercurio, a four-time nominee as best drama writer for both the Royal Television Society and Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, is one of the few British screenwriters to work as a showrunner. His most recent productions, the multiple-award-winners Bodyguard and Line of Duty, have broken audience records in the U.K.

In his keynote session, “Talent Behind the Camera,” Mercurio will discuss his journey from medical doctor to TV writer and then showrunner, his creative process and managing talent and relationships with studios, channels and platforms.

At the end of the session, taking place from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Mercurio will be presented with a World Screen Trendsetter Award, in partnership with MIPCOM, in recognition of his contribution to the international television industry.
