MIPCOM Spotlight: NeweN Distribution

CANNES: NeweN Distribution is looking forward to presenting MIPCOM buyers with a new procedural, Lebowitz vs Lebowitz.

The 8×1-hour series tells the story of Paule Lebowitz, a respected lawyer in Paris who will have to share her firm with a 25-year-old ex-intern, Irene.

“We are also bringing new episodes of our hit police series Candice Renoir, which has been a ratings phenomenon in France, drawing more than 5 million viewers per episode on France 2,” says Christophe Nobileau, the president of NeweN Distribution.

NeweN will also pitch the next series from Hervé Hadmar, creator and showrunner of Witnesses, titled Beyond the Walls. Nobileau describes the show as a “stylistic and thrilling story” about a young woman trapped within the walls of a mysterious house.

“We are obviously keeping track of the increasing nonlinear consumption of series and want to support our clients in this digital move,” Nobileau adds.

Furthermore, as part of NeweN Distribution’s format catalogue, the company is presenting a new Turkish title, Say Yes. This daily stripped competition show created by Arti Film, which is the producer of unscripted series in Turkey such as Love Is Calling, Deal with the Crisis and Style Wars, sees four contestants trying to perform the best wedding proposal with random budgets.

“Daily stripped competitions such as 4 Weddings, Shopping Monsters and Come Dine with Me are extremely popular,” says Nobileau. “Say Yes is the next one, and we can’t wait to present it to our clients. This is the very first time we are distributing a foreign format, and it was really love at first sight with this unique and fun competition.”
