MIPCOM Spotlight: Global Agency

CANNES: Global Agency’s drama slate is led by the new series Kosem, which will be offered to buyers at MIPCOM.

“We can consider Kosem as almost a continuation and a more innovative version of the process started by Magnificent Century,” says Izzet Pinto, Global Agency’s founder and CEO. “The story is as universal as it was with Magnificent Century, but this time, it [skews] younger, is more colorful and thus much more dynamic.” Global Agency is also showcasing another season of Broken Pieces, which will feature new stars and dramatic story lines.

Meanwhile, the second season of A Part of Me will be filled with even more drama and revenge, as a surrogate mother fights to keep the baby after she discovers it is actually her biological child.

“Turkish dramas are now the most popular segment of entertainment media,” Pinto notes.

However, the company is also focused on providing a wide range of format options. Singing and trivia are central to Global Agency’s newest format highlights, which include the variety show Is That Really Your Voice? Created by Pinto, it challenges jury members to guess who is the best singer based only on the contestants’ physical appearances and performances without audio.

The competition It’s Showtime puts a spotlight on voice quality, stage performance, song selection and styling, featuring live musical performances on a nightclub-style stage. In a twist, the competitors judge each other. Meanwhile, a huge cash prize is waiting for 12 relatives who can come up with the correct answers to 12 questions in All for One.

“I am sure they will all be new international hits by dominating access and prime-time ratings,” Pinto says. “We will look to strengthen our relationships with the production community and add new formats to our extensive catalogue.”
