LONDON: Sony Pictures Television’s 2waytraffic International is set to launch the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? 2011 game for the iPhone and iPod touch.

The game will also be available as an HD version for iPad users. The new version is now available in app stores in 70 countries. The first game based on the hit format was released for the iPhone in December 2009. It went on to top the download charts in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand, with further successes for local-language version in the Middle East, Italy and Germany.

The new Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? 2011 game features 500 fresh questions as an optional purchase, plus a Switch lifeline. Players can still also use the classic lifelines.

Ed Louwerse, the managing director of 2waytraffic International for SPT, said: “This second installment of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? game is even better than our hugely popular 2009 release. Just as we strive to keep our TV brands fresh, we’re also always looking to update and invigorate the extensions of those brands beyond television.”
