Mediaedge:cia Makes Management Changes

NEW YORK: Global media agency Mediaedge:cia (MEC) has made three changes to its management structure, including Alastair Aird adding the role of chairman for Europe, the Middle East and Africa to his global COO responsibilities.

Mel Varley becomes chief strategy officer for global. Varley will be responsible for the development of Mediaedge:cia’s future business model, including product and service strategy, accelerating the integration of MEC’s specialist services and the overall integrated One MEC offering. Varley was previously CEO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

As global chief client officer, Caroline Foster Kenny will be responsible for client management and delivery across the network. Kenny will handle clients’ business and marketing issues and develop and shape a service offer tailored to their needs. Previously, Kenny was chief client officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Charles Courtier, the global CEO of Mediaedge:cia, said: “Over the past five years we have seen extraordinary growth and momentum in all areas of our organization. In the current climate we must ensure that we remain commercially fit; remain absolutely client centric; and ensure that we deliver a fully integrated product to our clients, fused with digital. Our success is attributable to the extraordinary talent we have in the business, such as Mel and Caroline, and I have no doubt that they will be instrumental in achieving our future ambitions.”

Commentating on Aird’s role, Courtier added: "EMEA is economically the most challenging region in the world currently. As our global COO, Alastair Aird is one of our most senior and talented executives and it’s right that we focus our best global talent on areas of our business that need the most attention. As chairman of EMEA, Alastair will lead the region through this difficult period."
