MediaCorp Re-Shuffles Senior Team

SINGAPORE: Effective April 1, a number of changes will be in place within MediaCorp’s senior management, including Kenneth Liang relinquishing the title of executive VP of TV programming and production for Channel 5 to spearhead international productions.

Liang will assume the role of director of international productions, where he will spearhead a new unit focusing on business opportunities in international television content. Lim Suat Jien takes over his Channel 5 portfolio, and will additionally oversee Okto, a channel with children’s programming.

Ong Lay Hong, currently senior VP of Channel NewsAsia’s China operations, will assume Suat Jien’s current responsibilities for overseeing MediaCorp’s ethnic TV channels. Lay Hong will serve as the managing director of Suria and Vasantham.

Doreen Neo, the senior VP of the studios business distribution unit, will additionally helm a newly formed TV content distribution unit, which consolidates all of the company’s distribution activities across all genres.

All four executives will report to Chang Long Jong, the deputy CEO of television.

Currently chief editor of TV News, Debra Soon will be appointed managing director of Channel NewsAsia. She will succeed Woon Tai Ho, who has decided to pursue other interests. Florence Lian, who leads communications and marketing activities, will take on the appointment of managing director of radio from Philip Koh. Koh will then focus on his other portfolios as managing director of press and media research consultants, as well as undertake certain strategic business development projects. They will report to Shaun Seow, the deputy CEO of news, radio, print.

MediaCorp’s CEO, Lucas Chow, commented, "We need to align our organization structure and leadership to our business strategies. We have a few priorities, like expanding our content business and our international footprint. The changes reflect some of these priorities.
