Dutch Deal for ITV Global’s Pressure Cooker

LONDON: The ITV Global Entertainment format Pressure Cooker has been ordered for 60 half-hours by RTL Netherlands.

ITV Studios will co-produce Pressure Cooker with RTL Productions for RTL 5 in the Netherlands. The series will premiere late 2009 as part of the network’s early evening lineup. In Europe, the format, which watches would-be chefs come together in a high-pressure professional kitchen, has seen strong ratings in Germany on VOX and Croatia on RTL.

Remko Van Westerloo, the program director at RTL 5 in the Netherlands, said, “We’re extremely excited to be announcing this major new commission. We have been looking for an exciting new entertainment series that will build our audiences going into primetime and Pressure Cooker is certainly going to be a hot and spicy treat for our audiences.”

Remy Blumenfeld, the director of formats at ITV Global Content, added, “Our expert teams have developed Pressure Cooker into a hugely popular and proven format. Working together with RTL Productions we will be searching the Netherlands for the next generation of super-chefs, brought to screen through an extremely engaging and highly compelling entertainment show.”
